No fasting is required for standard STD screenings. You can eat and drink normally before your visit. However, if you are getting a urine-based test, we recommend that you do not urinate for at least one hour prior to your visit to ensure the sample is concentrated enough for an accurate reading.
If a result is positive, our providers will contact you to discuss the diagnosis. Most bacterial STDs are easily cured with a round of antibiotics. For viral infections, we provide counseling on management and can refer you to specialists if long-term care is required.
