Attending social organizations like school, sports, and camps increase your risk of injury and illness, especially for children. That’s why many of these organizations require participants to undergo a physical beforehand.
At Urgentology Care, we provide physicals for both adults and children on a walk-in basis. You don’t have to wait for your primary care provider to make sure your child is fit for a new activity, just stop by our clinic today for an examination from a board-certified physician!
You don’t need an appointment, but you can schedule one for today to cut down on waiting time by calling (817) 799-7273 or contacting us online.
What to Expect During a Physical
It’s important to get an update on your child’s overall health condition before sending them off to school, sports, or camp. If they have any unusual health risks, such as abnormal heartbeats or high risk of injury, learning of these ahead of time will allow you and the event organizers to take precautions to prevent a serious injury or illness.
During a typical physical, your physician should check up on the following:
- Blood pressure
- Heart rate
- Respiration rate
- Your family’s medical history
- Cognitive abilities
- Skin health
- Lung capacity
- Reflexes
- Mobility
This may sound like a lot, but many of these things can be evaluated with simple physical observation as the doctor instructs you to perform simple tasks like turn your head and cough. Many of the tests performed during a physical only take a few seconds.
Depending on when your child had their last physical, the doctor may also order a blood test and update your vaccinations. Other tests may be suggested depending on the child’s age, medical history, and your family’s medical history.
At Urgentology Care, we do not require appointments. If you are behind on your physicals, simply walk into our clinic in Arlington today and we can take care of you.
